After
retiring from a career spanning a period of some 40+ years as
a student, layout artist, art director and graphic designer,
Bill paints and experiments with all media including
photography and sculpture, for fun and self-satisfaction.
His
works have won numerous awards from the American Business
Press Editors for Editorial Layout while employed as an Art
Director for The Irving-Cloud Publishing Company. His
works were also featured in an article called
“SOPHISTICATION IN LAYOUT” in Cortland Gray Smith’s book
on Magazine Layout.
Bill
prefers to paint with oils and his style is very much
influenced by the works of the Impressionists and some modern
day artist like Richard Schmid, Don Andrews, Charles Reid, Ron
Ranson and Illustrators like Bernie Fuchs, Robert Morris
Cunningham, Bob Peak.
Bill
studied at Ray Vogue Art School, and The Art Institute of
Chicago and then went to work as an apprentice with Fuller,
Smith & Ross Advertising Agency in Chicago, and then with
London & Associates Advertising Agency as an Art Director
before joining the Magazine Publishing field.
