For our November meeting, we will
have a distinguished gentleman named Dr. Taylor, a dear friend of
Maarten's, and a very interesting artist. I'll give more details
closer to the meeting - but please mark your calendars, because this
promises to be a very interesting and thoughtful evening

demos and talk about new products on the market. She will probably have goody give-aways so you don't
want to miss!

|
- August 6,
2009
We will have a speaker/demo on Thursday from an oil painter who is an
accomplished plein air artist as well. She mainly paints rural scenes and will be providing good tips and tricks.
As usual, bring wip or finished pieces for viewing or critique at the end of the meeting.
I will announce our Artist Reception date and time for the Village Hall show at the meeting. Be sure to bring any dues owed and give to Maria Vera
at the meeting. Exhibition on August 17th - September 27th at
Hoffman Estates Village Hall

|
- July 2,
2009
For our July meeting, we will have Mort Luby
presenting a lecture/demo on watercolors. Mort is a very
accomplished artist and I am sure we will learn much. This will be on
our usual first Thursday of the month - July 2nd at 7:30 at the Park
District on Higgins Road. As always you are welcome to bring WIP or
finished pieces for c/c.

|
| |
| Bob
Nielson has graciously offered to instruct on DIY canvas stretching and
framing. Bring any WIP you want to share or finished pieces for
critique at the end of the program. We will also discuss our upcoming
exhibition on August 17th - September 27th at Hoffman Estates Village
Hall and I will be asking for volunteers for the following tasks:
- Painting title signs -
Reception organization - Exhibit invite (electronic version
& printable copy) - Exhibit brochure/flyer with
artist info. - Installation assistance - Publicity
As most of you know, it typically takes 3
to 4 people to help make an exhibition a success and I ask that
everyone take a turn helping so please think about what you can do to
contribute. A
second outing will be later in June. The peonies will be in bloom at
Spring Valley Nature Center and will make a gorgeous setting for Plein
Air! If you haven't seen this setting at Spring Valley, you will be
stunned by it's beauty. This will be a bit of a hike in so some
preparation will be necessary - pack light and if necessary pack on
wheels! | | |

- Saturday; May 23rd at
9:30ish (10:00 is fine) AM
For the lovely
month of May, instead of a meeting indoors, we
will meet outdoors and paint together. If you have never tried outdoor painting,
please consider giving it a try - it's lots of fun and a whole new
experience. You might learn a thing or two from more experienced plein
air artists, and it will give you a whole new perspective on your art.
Bring paint, or pastels or whatever medium you wish to work in. Bring a
camera if you wish to have a lasting image to work from later on.
Consider bringing a drink (water/coffee) and a light snack too! Don't
forget a brimmed hat. We will be parked very close to where we will set
up so don't worry about carrying your supplies very far. PLEASE NOTE THE DATE: Saturday; May 23rd at
9:30ish (10:00 is fine) AM PLACE: St,
Johns Church (right on the corner of Algonquin and Roselle in Palatine) Southwest
corner.
This is a beautiful little church - very Norman
Rockwellian. It's right next to a Forest Preserve which becomes a
pretty background. We have never done a building before for our outside
excursion so I thought it would be nice to do something different. I
have permission from the Church. We will work from around 10:00 am
through 12:00ish. They probably won't mind if we want to stay a little
longer. There is a parking lot to the right (west side) of the church.
Please
let Sharron know if you will be joining us so I have an idea of how
many to expect. Thanks and see you then!
